The Gathering Women of Color Expo 2016 Re-cap

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of attending The Gathering, a two-day expo for women of color.

Years ago, The Gathering was the expo to attend if you were African American. You would see family and old friends, all while supporting black owned businesses.

After a long hiatus, The Gathering Women of Color Expo opened it's doors to women all over the Twin Cities. This year's special guests included Keynote Speaker Holly Robinson Peete, Gospel recording artist Deitrick Haddon and our very own Sounds Of Blackness as well as many others.

One of the best things about the expo is seeing all of the creative, new black owned business there are in the Twin Cities area.

Some of the vendors included:

Kingdom Jewels - Handmade jewelry.

Baking & Co. Custom Cakery

Tina Dionne Fashion

Classy Without Compromise

Taking a quick moment to grab the founder of The Gathering, Sharron Smith - Akinsanya for a picture.

And now for the highlight of the evening, Gospel artist Deitrick Haddon!

Leading the crowd in praise and worship.

You know I had to get a picture with one of my favorite gospel artists of all time.

Have you been to The Gathering?

  1. Oh yes this looks like a place I want to be. They have these a lot in Atlanta and I have attended a few. Great to know that we can support others all in one place and have a great time
